UGC NET 2021 

UGC-NET means it is National Eligibility Test. It is an exam conducted to determine the eligibility of an assistant professor and a Junior Research Fellow in Government Recognized Universities and Colleges in India. It is conducted by National Testing Agency on behalf of UGC University Grants Commission. It is considered as one of the most competitive exams taken by candidates in India.

The Exam will be conducted twice in a year i.e. in June month and in December month, and it will be held online.

ELIGIBILITY 

Aspirant (General/ UR/ General- EWS) with Master’s Degree or its equivalent from UGC recognized University/Institution will be eligible to appear for exam.

Aspirant must be obtained minimum 55% marks in their Master’s Degree level (50% marks for ST/SC/OBC (NCL)/PWD/ Transgender category candidates).

Aspirants should have passed with Electronic Science, Humanities and Social science (including languages), Computer science and applications, etc.in the Master’s degree level.

Aspirants who are in the last year of their Master’s degree level or who have appeared but results are awaited are also eligible to apply. Such students will be considered eligible only if they will fulfill the qualification requirements. Additionally, aspirants must complete the Master’s degree within 2 years of declaration of result otherwise they will be disqualified.

Aspirants with Ph.D. degree whose Master’s level exam has been completed by September 1992 will be given 5% relaxation in aggregate marks (which means from 55% to 50%).

For Assistant professor, there will be no maximum age limit to apply. For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) post candidate age should not be more than 30 years as of 1st December, 2021.

AGE LIMIT

Not more than 31 years as on 1st day of the month in which the examination is concluded i.e. 01.03.2021 (This age limit is applicable for the current examination only)

A relaxation of upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC-NCL , SC, ST, PwD, Third gender categories and to women applicants

EXAM PATTERN

  • Exam Mode:
  • Number of Papers: There will be 2 papers.
  • Language of Exam: Hindi or English.
  • Question Type:
  • Exam Duration: 3 Hours.
  • Total Number of Questions: There will be total of 150 questions in the paper.
  • Marks: The paper will be of total 300 marks. Paper 1 will be of 100 marks and Paper 2 will be of 200 marks.
  • Marking scheme: For each correct answer, 2 marks will be awarded. There will be no negative marking scheme.

PAPER 1 : The questions in Paper I intends to assess the teaching/ research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate

PAPER 2 : This is based on the subject selected by the candidate and will assess domain knowledge

The December 2020 Cycle (May 2021) of UGC NET will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode in multi shifts as per the time schedule specified in the Information at a glance, in the Subjects given at Annexure -II in selected Cities spread across the Country

APPLICATION FORM

Before applying for UGC NET, candidates must go through complete information bulletin and details of application process. Also, candidates must be ready with all the documents required at the time of registration.

During application process, candidates will have to first register with unique email id and mobile number. This will generate application number and other required login details.

Students will have to completely fill the online application form after registration.

After filling the form, students will be required to upload scanned images of photograph and signature as per the format (JPEG/JPG) and size.

After uploading process, candidates will have to make fee payment through available payment mode.

Students will be able to edit the application before submission of form. After submission of form, candidates will be able to edit the application only during the correction period.

Candidates are advised to print the application form and fee payment receipt for any reference in future.

ADMIT CARD

The Admit Card would be issued provisionally to the candidates of December 2020 Cycle (May 2021) of UGC NET, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria, the candidate has to download the Admit Card from the NTA website and appear for the Examination at the given Centre on date, shift, time
