BEGUM HAZRAT MAHAL NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP 

In the Academic year 2003 – 04 Maulana Azad National Scholarship Scheme Provided by the Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF) / Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India was started by Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee at National Conference of Educational & Economic Development of Minorities at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, to provide financial assistance to meritorious girl students belonging to Minority Community (Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Parsis) who cannot continue their education due to lack of financial support, the same Scholarship is now known as “Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship” 

The scholarship amount will be admissible for expenditure on payment of School/College Admission, Tution fee, purchase of text books, payment of Boarding/Lodging charges and purchase of stationery required for the course 

IMPORTANT DATES

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT

Class 9 & 10 Rs 5000
Class 11 & 12 Rs 6000

ELIGIBILITY

Only Girl students studying in Class 9 to 12 and belonging to Minority Communities (Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Parsis) can Apply

Scholarship will be awarded to minorities’ girl students belonging to  Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Parsis who are studying in Class 9th to 12th in present academic year, and they must have secured Minimum  50% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate in previous class or qualifying exam

SCHEME GUIDELINES

The credentials of student should be verified by the concerned School Authorities, they need to download the School Verification form  and get it signed by the Principal of the School (NOTE : Seal and signature are required on photograph and at the given space in the form, the Copy should be uploaded while applying online)

Annual income of student’s parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.00 lakh and need to Submit Income Certificate issued by the Competent Authority declared by the State Government/UTs Administration. (NOTE : Income Certificate must be in Hindi/English language only, If In case the Income Certificate is in Regional language then it should be accompanied by notarized Hindi/English Version)

Only One Application should be submitted (NOTE : if students submit more than one application form then all the applications submitted by students will be considered as Duplicate and will be Rejected)

All required documents must be uploaded along with online application, they should be only in Hindi or English version

No physical or hard copy is required to be sent or submitted by post or by hand to Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF)

Scholarship will be given only to one Students from a family of the same class

The scholarship will not be given for studies abroad for any course

To apply online for the Scholarship No Fees is Charged

No applications for renewal of scholarships will be entertained, all the Students of Class 9 to 12 Should apply as Fresh Candidates only

AMOUNT TRANSFER

Amount of scholarship will be credited directly into the Beneficiary Bank Account through Direct Bank Transfer mode only (NOTE : No other mode like transfer to Parent / Guardian Account or Payment through Cheque or DD will be done)

SELECTION PROCEDURE

The selection of eligible students is based on the %age of marks obtained by the candidates in qualifying exam and parent’s/ guardian’s annual income, the State wise community wise quota is fixed on the basis of minority population of the state in accordance to 2011 Census, Out of total scholarships each State/UTs will be allocated a fixed number of scholarships quota on the basis of the population of the minorities’ in the concentrated area, for which population figures as per 2011 census may be relied upon. 

NOTE : The Student getting scholarship under any scholarship scheme Provided  by the Central/State Government shall not be eligible to get scholarship under “Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship” scheme

CANCELLATION OF SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship will be cancelled to the student who gives an gap of academic session in studies at any time due to any reason

Failure to Submit the Application by the Students in Prescribed format within the Last date

If student is found to have obtained scholarship by false statement/certificates, the amount credited will be recovered at the discretion of the concerned State Government/UTs Administration

ELIGIBILITY

The applicant should have secured 50% marks in the last annual Board/Class examination (Not applicable for students studying in 1st std)

Annual income of the students’ Parents/ Guardians from all sources should not exceed

  • Rs.1 Lakh for Pre Matric Scholarship,
  • Rs.2 Lakh for Post Matric Scholarship and
  • Rs.2.5 Lakh for Merit Cum Means Scholarship

Student should belong to Karnataka State, Students of Karnataka domicile studying in other states are also eligible to apply in Karnataka

Scholarships under each scheme is sanctioned only on the basis of Admission Fee & Tuition Fee.

NOT ELIGIBLE?

Students pursuing correspondence education and certificate courses or training’s are not eligible

Pre Matric students not submitting their hard copies along with online application to their respective schools.

Post Matric & Merit Cum Means students not submitting their hard copies along with online application to their respective institute/colleges and Taluk Nodal Officer

Students whose application is not forwarded online to next level by the Head Master/Principal of the institute, schools and colleges

Merit Cum Means students who not upload the required documents

Students securing less than 50% of marks in their previous Board/Class

Students having backlog in their previous exam as on the date of submission of their application are not eligible for scholarship

Students who Enclose Invalid income and caste certificate

Student who provide wrong information like  school/college/Institution name, class/course name, Scheme name in their online application

NOTE 

To avail scholarship for Minorities in Karnataka, it is mandatory to apply both under National Scholarship Portal – NSP (GOI) and State Scholarship Portal – SSP (GOK) 

Applicants are advised to apply online for any one of the scholarship schemes on the website of National Scholarship Portal at www.scholarships.gov.in

Step 2: Click on New Registration button.
Step 3: Read the Guidelines given on Registration on National Scholarship Portal, then Click Continue button
Step 4: Fill the Student Registration Form
Step 5: Click on the Check boxes of Aadhar consent, Bank Account and Application form.
Step 6: Enter all required details then Click on the Register button.
Step 7: Student registration ID will be displayed. (Note it down for further reference), then Click on Continue Button

NOTE : The login ID and password to login into NSP portal will be your Application Id and Date of Birth.

Step 8: After Login in NSP Portal using your Login ID and Password NOTE : You will receive an OTP of 5 digits on Registered Mobile
Number/Email ID.
Step 9: Confirm OTP. will take you to Change Password Page. Change your password as per instruction in the same page.
Step 10: Click ‘’Application Form’’ button and enter General Information / Academic / Other details 
Step 11: Click on “Save & Continue”to Switch on to next Page

Step 12: Applicant is directed to see the next page for “Contact Details & Scheme Details”, Fill Contact Selects and Select Scheme

Step 13: After selecting the scheme, in the same page, an Upload Document section will be displayed, (NOTE : Upload documents only if you are applying for Merit cum means Scheme if Not then No Need to upload any document) 

NOTE : Re-check all your entries, uploaded documents, before finally submitting the application

Sep 14: Click on Submit Button, Take a print out by Clicking print Button for further reference and also as an Acknowledgement.

Step 3: Login using Last year NSP application ID and last year password.
Step 4: After login you be directed to Student’s Home Page
Step 5: Click on  “Pre-Filled Information” button and Check your last year details.
Step 6: Click “Apply for Renewal’’ & enter Renewal details

Step 7: After selecting the scheme, in the same page, an Upload Document section will be displayed, (NOTE : Upload documents only if you are applying for Merit cum means Scheme if Not then No Need to upload any document) 

NOTE : Re-check all your entries, uploaded documents, before finally submitting the application

Step 8: Click on Submit Button, Take a print out by Clicking print Button for further reference and also as an Acknowledgement.

Pre Matric students are advised to prepare two sets of their application along with the required documents, submit one full set to the Principal of your Institute and keep one set for your further reference

Post Matric & Merit Cum Means students are advised to prepare three sets of their application along with the required documents, submit one full set to the Principal of your Institute, another set to The Taluk Officer for Minorities and keep one set for your further reference.

A programme to identify and nurture the talented students across the country the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) started a Scheme named NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) that is conducted every year to provide Scholarships to the talented and deservng Students

The scheme is partially decentralized and Confined to only Class X the selection of candidates for the Scholarships that is done in two tier process Stage 1 (State Level) and Stage 2 (National level). Level, the students should get qualify at both levels to get the Scholarships 

For the Stages the Examination has got two papers : Mental Ability Test (MAT), and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

Every year approximately about 12 to 15 Lakh students appear for the examination, among those only 5000 students are selected for stage 2. Out of the 5000 students who appeared for stage 2 (National Level) , only 1000 candidates are selected for the scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY 

All students studying in Class X in any type of recognized school including Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya, and Sainik School are  eligible to appear at the State Level Examination from the State in which the school is located.

However No domicile restrictions will be imposed, Even the Students registered under Open and Distance Learning (ODL) are also eligible for scholarship provided the students are below the age of 18 years

SCHOLARSHIP 

Around 2000 Scholarships are provided at different stages of Education

  • Class-XI to XII : Scholarship of Rs.1250/- per month
  • Undergraduates and Post-graduates : Scholarship of Rs.2000/- per month
  • Ph.D : According to UGC norms the amount of Scholarship is fixed

EXAM PATTERN

State level examination may have two parts: Part-I Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Part II Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), Each Paper consist of 100 MCQs for 100 Marks, There will be NO Negative Markings

Mental Ability Test

There shall be 100 multiple-choice type items, with four alternatives. Each item will carry one mark. Candidates are required to answer the items on a separate OMR sheet as per instructions given in the test booklet and on the OMR sheet.

Scholastic Aptitude Test

The scholastic Aptitude Test will consist of 100 multiple-choice items of one mark each. Each item shall have four alternatives, out of which only one will be the correct answer. There shall be 40 items from Science, 40 from Social Science and 20 from Mathematics, Candidates are required to answer the items on a separate OMR sheet to be provided at the examination centre as per instructions

MEDIUM 

The tests will be available in the following languages: Asamiya, Bangla, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. The candidate has to mention his option regarding the language in which he/she want to take the test in the application form

With an objective to financially support the meritorious students of economically weaker sections of the society a Centrally sponsored scholarship scheme NMMS (National Merit Cum Means Scholarship) is implemented by the Department of School Education & Literacy under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, it aims to encourages disadvantaged students to continue their studies at the secondary level by offering a scholarship amount of INR 12,000 per annum @ Rs. 1000 per month. Under this scheme, 100,000 scholarships are awarded to the gifted or meritorious students whose parental income is not more than Rs. 1,50,000/- per annum from all sources.

This Scholarship is announced Every year in the Month of August and Last date to apply will be October, It may vary sometimes, for the academic year 2020 – 21, the last date to apply for NMMS is 31st October 2020, to Apply Online CLICK HERE

ELIGIBILITY

To appear for NMMS test the students shall have minimum of 55 % marks or equivalent grade in Class VII examination (Relax-able of 5% for SC / ST Students) and he should be studying as regular student in a Government or Aided or local body school

For the students studying as regular students in class IX in a Government, Government-aided and local body schools the Scholarship which will be renewed on regular basis for classes X, XI and XII, it will be awarded for a Maximum period of 4 years, To get NMMS Scholarship in higher secondary school to be continued, the students must score at least 60% marks in class 10 board exam,

NOTE :

The students who are studying in NVS, KVS, Sainik schools and private (Unaided) schools are not eligible to apply for NMMS

No scholarship shall be available for studies abroad for any course

No claim for scholarship arrears will be entertained after the expiry of 12 months of the academic session

In case any awardee leaves the course of study within one month of joining or Admission in School then no scholarship shall be paid 

No scholarship at Higher Education level will be given for students studying diploma/certificate level courses after 10th std

SELECTION PROCEDURE

For the Selection of Students to award Scholarship under NMMS a separate Examination will be conduced by states and Union territories to select the Meritorious students that contains 2 papers (MAT & SAT)

EXAM PATTERN

The State Level Examination may consist of two papers : Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

Mental Ability Test

It consist of 90 multiple choice questions which test the  verbal and non verbal meta cognitive abilities like reasoning and critical thinking. The questions in the test are based on topics like  analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figure and other

Scholastic Aptitude Test

It consists of 90 multiple choice questions from Subjects like science, social studies and mathematics which the students have learned in 7th and 8th Standard

DURATION OF EXAM 

The Duration of exam is 90 minutes for Each paper and Students with disabilities will be given extra time as applicable 

DECLARATION OF RESULTS

To Qualify for Selection to NMMS the students must pass both the tests MAT and SAT with at least 40 % marks in aggregate taken in both the tests. The SC/ST students must get pass with aggregate of 32% in both the subjects

At the time of selection for the award of scholarship the student must have scored at least 55% mark in Class VIII examination, 5 % relaxation for SC/ST students is allowed

The selected students should fulfill all the criteria specified in the Scholarship Scheme

PROCEDURE TO APPLY 

The students who are eligible s for NMMS scheme can apply online through the National Scholarship Portal. The students need to register first on the portal filling all the details and then continue with the application process after logging in to the user dashboard using the User Name and Password

DISBURSEMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP

A student can get only one Scholarship under any scheme

The awardees should have bank account preferably in SBI, or any public sector bank or any scheduled bank which has core banking facility

The awardees should get minimum of 55% marks in Class IX and XI and 60% in Class X for continuance of scholarship (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates) in next higher classes.

The scholarship amount of Rs 12,000 @ Rs 1000 per month is paid to awardees at a time (One Payment)
