INSPIRE AWARD

INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) Awards – MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspirations and Knowledge) is a National scheme being implemented by DST along with National Innovation Foundation, India (NIF) that aims to motivate students studying in class 6 to 10,

To foster a culture of creativity and innovative thinking among school children is the main objective of the Scheme and it aims target one million original ideas/innovations rooted in science and societal applications, Under this scheme, schools can nominate 5 best original ideas/innovations of students till 15th October 2021

All the Schools across the country can register under INSPIRE award – MANAK scheme, (whether run by Central Government or State Government or local body or NGOs), including private schools (aided or unaided), having classes from 6th to 10th (Primary, Upper Primary and High schools), are all eligible to enroll in the scheme and submit the nominations online of eligible students to DST through their respective District / State education authorities

The scheme was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 13th December 2008 and was implemented in 2009-10, The Scheme is managed by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, Scheme covers students in the age group of 10-32 years in five different components.

NEW REGISTRATION

For a new registration, the schools (Primary, Upper Primary, High School) have to do a New registration process by following the step by step procedure and have to obtain a permanent Registration  / Application Number from their respective district authority.

Before filling for the registration, the school must have the valid email id created. It is advisable to use the school email id which can be used, even if the authority changes (NOTE : If the name of your school is not available in the list, then choose Others option from the dropdown), Get Fill the details and follow the steps in the User Manual

If already registered then the Schools can directly proceed with the login option. If the school have forgotten or lost Inspire Award School LOGIN ID, Password, Application ID and registered email id,

Under INSPIRE Awards-MANAK scheme each school can nominate a maximum of five ideas/innovations of the students based on the degree of novelty, social applicability, environmental implications, potential impact, scope for diffusion through commercial and/or non-commercial channels,

REJECTED PROJECT TOPICS

Whereas the Project submissions will not be encouraged that are based on the common ideas/concepts from textbooks & other resources, which includes the projects on the topics of Energy generator, waste batteries, dung, transport, wave, generation of electricity through turbines

IDEA COMPETITION

To organize idea competitions, the Techers of the Schools (Especially the Nodal Teachers for Inspire Award) may assemble them in a group and ask the students to think about An idea of a machine or a gadget, which is not available but the students desire to have such a machine or a gadget for the usage

The Teacher can ask students to give an idea of improvement in any existing/available machine or gadget, so that it the Machine, Gadget becomes multifunctional, efficient, reduces drudgery and other benefits to them

The Teacher can ask students to come up with an idea or an innovation that can solve a local technological problem, which a student may come across everyday in their locality

The purpose of including Title and Project Synopsis in the nomination form is to get sufficient idea about the project being submitted hence proper care has to be taken while filling these details, For the title of the project, a suitable title describing the project should be given,

Schools reopening Guidelines 2021 released

The Department of Public Instructions, Karnataka has released the Guidelines (SOP) for reopening of schools for class 9 and 10th std from 23rd August 2021 for half Day (Morning Session – Monday to Friday10.00AM to 1.30PM and Saturday – 10.00 to 12.50PM ),

According to the Guidelines issued the Schools for the students of 9th and 10th to be reopened in districts with less than 2% COVID 19 positivity rate,

The students attending physical classes should submit compulsory parents consent letter, Decision on reopening of schools for class 1 to 8 to be taken later, the students can attend either offline or online classes,

All the students of class 9 and 10 attending the Physical Classes from Monday (23rd August 2021) to submit the consent letter duly signed by their parents

Computer Literacy Test

Karnataka State Government has made it mandatory to Pass Computer Literacy Test (CLT) by all the state Government Employees by 22nd March 2022, for more details CLICK HERE

As per the Government Order No: DPAR 104 e-Gov 2014 dated 2nd December 2014, all Government employees are required to take the Online Computer Literacy Test ( i.e refer GO No DPAR 43 SCR 2008 Bangalore dated 07.03.2012) for which employees need not pay for the 1st attempt.

However, any employee attempting to clear the Online Computer Literacy Test in a 2nd attempt or any further attempt is required to pay an Exam Fees of Rs 359 + bank charges

KEY POINTS

Computer Literacy Test (CLT) is conducted currently on Saturday and Sunday only, All the Questions will be in MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) Format which are basically a simulation / practical based questions, Maximum 80 Marks for CLT, Exam will consist of 1 paper covering both theory and practical based questions

Vehicle Scrapping Policy

In Lok sabha Vehicle Scrapping Policy was announced by the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, 

He said in the interest of a clean environment and rider and pedestrian safety Voluntary Vehicle-Fleet Modernization Program (VVMP) or Vehicle Scrapping Policy is being introduced 

The objectives of the Voluntary Vehicle-Fleet Modernization Program (VVMP) or Vehicle Scrapping Policy are to reduce population of old and defective vehicles, formalize the currently informal vehicle scrapping industry and boost availability of low-cost raw materials for automotive, achieve better fuel efficiency

To achieve the reduction in vehicular air pollutants to fulfil India’s climate commitments, improve road and vehicular safety,

He added the policy is expected to attract additional investments of around Rs. 10,000 Crore and 35,000 job opportunities,

The main criteria for a vehicle to be scrapped is basically based on the fitness of vehicles through the Automated Fitness Centres in case of commercial vehicles and Non-Renewal of Registration in case of the private vehicles,

According to the Police a Vehicle failing the fitness test or failing to get a renewal of its registration certificate may be declared as End of Life for the Vehicle

Major Proposals

As per the Policy commercial vehicles be de registered after 15 years in case of failure to get the fitness certificate and from the date of initial registration increased fees for fitness certificate and fitness test may be applicable for commercial vehicles 15 year onwards

Whereas Private Vehicles be de-registered after 20 years if found unfit or in case of a failure to renew registration certificate, from the date of initial registration increased re registration fees will be applicable for private vehicles 15 year onwards,

For the vehicles from the date of registration of the Central Government, State Government, Municipal Corporation, Panchayats, State Transport Undertakings, Public Sector Undertakings and autonomous bodies with the Union and State Governments may be de registered and scrapped after 15 years 

The owners will be provided Scrapping certificate and incentives to owners of old vehicles to scrap old and unfit vehicles through registered scrapping centres will be given 

Proposed Incentives

A Scrap Value for the old vehicle provided by the scrapping centre will be fixed, which will be approximately 4 to 6% of ex showroom price of a new vehicle

A road- tax rebate of up to 25% for personal vehicles and up to 15% for commercial vehicles may be advised to the State Government 

A discount of 5% on purchase of new vehicle against the scrapping certificate will be advised to the vehicle manufacturers

For purchase of new vehicle against the scrapping certificate the registration fees may also be waived

Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) centres will be opened across the country and also Integrated Scrapping Facilities will be set up

e-RUPI new digital payment

on 2nd August 2021 Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched e-RUPI digital payment solution , It is a cashless and contactless instrument for digital payment across the country,

PM added in coming years e-RUPI voucher is going to play a major role in making Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) more effective in digital transactions in the country and it will give a new dimension to digital governance in the country in coming days

e-RUPI is a digital voucher which a beneficiary receives on his phone in the form of an SMS or QR code.,

E – RUPI was developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI)a platform oversees the digital payments ecosystem in India in collaboration with the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and National Health Authority, 

It is a pre-paid voucher, at any centre that accepts e-RUPI digital voucher a person can go and redeem it 

e – RUPI a one time contactless, cashless voucher based mode of payment which helps the beneficiaries redeem the voucher without using the credit card, debit card or any other card, digital payments app, or internet banking access

There is no necessity for a bank account to use e-RUPI, It ensures an easy, contactless two step redemption process and it that does not require sharing of any of the personal details either and it is operable on basic phones also without any internet access, SMART Phones are not required to use e – RUPI and it would assure real time payments to the service provider

NPCI has partnered with 11 banks for e-RUPI transactions namely Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Indian Bank, IndusInd Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India and Union Bank of India and the acquiring Apps are Bharat Pe, BHIM Baroda Merchant Pay, Pine Labs, PNB Merchant Pay and YoNo SBI Merchant Pay,

At Present NPCI has tied up with around  1,600 hospitals where a person can go and redeem e-RUPI
